Bleeding Propane Lines

After turning on your propane and before using your refrigerator or hot water heater in gas mode its good practice to bleed the propane line by lighting the stove first. This will bleed any air out of the lines and make you appliances ignite properly when using propane. Please click on the link below for a short video.

Emergency Exits. In case you need to exit your RV in an emergency and can’t use the main door there are windows specially designed to to open out for emergency exit use. These windows are usually marked with a sticker that says EXIT and have a red handle to open the window. This video gives a brief overview of how they work.

RV Microwave Travel Tip

RV Microwave Travel Tip

Most RV’s have a microwave with the rotating glass carousel that bounces all around while traveling. This quick and cheap tip will help hold it in place while traveling. All you need is a pool noodle and a knife to cut it to length. Place it in the microwave to hold the carousel in place. Hope you find this useful. Thanks for watching RVYOURWAY.com

Update-Pool noodles over time can start to flake so I recommend putting it in a 1 gallon zip lock bag before placing it in the microwave.

Smoke Detectors

RV Microwave Travel Tip

Most smoke detectors use 9 volt batteries and are recommended to be replaced every 6 months. Daylight savings time is a good reminder to change your batteries. While changing the batteries always visually inspect the smoke detector (for Securely fastened to wall or ceiling, damage, paint, excessive dirt accumulation's, etc.) and wipe the outside with a microfiber cloth. Its also good practice to test it once a month.  Most are good for 10 years but always check the date on the label and refer to the owners manual for further care and maintenance.

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2021 Jayco Eagle fifth wheel vehicles. Certain vehicles were equipped with a 4 1/4 inch spring hanger instead of the proper 5 1/4 inch spring hanger, reducing the tire clearance.

2021 Jayco Eagle 5th wheel Recall-Tire Blowouts due to incorrect Spring Hangers on some units

When I installed my Reese M5 hitch I noticed the handle was to high to allow the tonneau cover to close. In stead of using the supplied bolts I got some lock pins from Tractor Supply and placed them in the holes. This allows for easy removal of the handle.

The Factory shower head was horrible and water would literally dribble out. I replaced it with a Campco model that was slightly better but I want more water.  Based on reviews I now purchased an Oxygenics model 25752.  Video of installation to follow along with a review of this new shower head

Portable or hardwired that was the decision.. After a lot of thought I decided to go with portable(Surge Guard 34951) with a wireless display monitor.(Surge Guard 40301. I chose this route because if a hardwired unit fails then you have no power. With a portable unit you can just unplug and plug directly into the post.  This unit is available in 30 or 50 amp versions.

Wheel Covers

Surge Protection

We all know how damaging the suns rays are. Our last camper was kept inside so we never had to worry about the sun. Now the new one sits in the driveway. I wanted to protect the tires so I found these covers by Venture Forward for around $35  a pair.  So far I'm happy with them. Quality seems to be decent and they fit good. Will see how they hold up over time
